Ryan Michael Eiler Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the Shakopee community mourns the tragic loss of Ryan Michael Eiler, 32, of Champlin—a devoted teacher, dedicated coach, and proud member of the Army National Guard—who passed away Sunday afternoon following a crash in Edina.

According to authorities, Ryan was traveling northbound on Highway 169 when his vehicle suddenly veered and struck a median barrier. Emergency responders transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. He had been wearing his seat belt, road conditions were clear, and no impairment is suspected. Even so, the loss is no less devastating and difficult to comprehend.

Yet Ryan’s life is not defined by this tragic moment, but by the purpose and impact with which he lived.

Ryan Eiler was a man deeply committed to service. As a health and physical education teacher at Shakopee High School, he dedicated himself to shaping young lives. To him, teaching was about more than lessons—it was about connection, mentorship, and helping students discover their confidence and potential. He was known as an educator who genuinely cared, who saw each student as an individual, and who worked tirelessly to support their growth.

That same passion carried onto the track, where he served as an assistant coach for the boys’ sprint team. He brought energy, encouragement, and leadership to every practice, instilling not just athletic skill but resilience, discipline, and self-belief. For many athletes, he was more than a coach—he was a mentor and a steady source of support.

Ryan’s commitment to others extended beyond the classroom and field through his service in the Army National Guard. His dedication reflected values that defined his life: responsibility, discipline, and a willingness to serve something greater than himself.

He also valued education and personal growth, having studied at both the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota. He built a life centered on leadership, mentorship, and making a meaningful difference.

Those who knew Ryan remember his positivity, his sense of purpose, and his genuine care for others. Students recall his encouragement, athletes remember his belief in them, and colleagues respect his dedication and integrity. He was someone who showed up—for his work, his community, and the people in his life.

His passing leaves a profound emptiness—in classrooms, on the track, and throughout the community. Yet his legacy endures in the lives he touched and the lessons he shared—lessons of perseverance, respect, and self-belief.

To his family, friends, students, and colleagues, may his memory bring strength and comfort. His life mattered deeply, and the impact he made will not be forgotten.

Ryan Michael Eiler lived a life of purpose, service, and compassion. Though his time was far too short, the legacy he leaves behind is lasting.

Rest in peace, Ryan. You will always be remembered.
